Top five things to do in Faversham

Faversham is the perfect place to escape to the country. A gorgeous little market town, located by the two creeks and in the heart of the Garden of England.

Here are the top five places we recommend you visit when you next come to town.

  1. The top spot has to go to Brogdale Farm, of course. Set in the heart of beautiful orchards, Brogdale Farm is home to a courtyard restaurant, massage clinic, gift shops, hair salon, brewery, plant centre, chocolate shop and more.
Brogdale is home to the National Fruit Collections – the world’s largest collection of temperate fruits – which you can visit via Brogdale Collections.  This charity also holds many fantastic, rural events throughout the year. Take a look at Brogdale Collections for unique activities for both adults and children!
  1. Faversham Market is mentioned in the Domesday book and located in the heart of Faversham’s historic town centre.  Faversham Market is the oldest in Kent and with its stilted Guildhall, town pump and medieval buildings as a backdrop, it’s a special place to visit.  Charter Markets take place on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; Best of Faversham artisan markets take place on the first and third Saturday of the month; the monthly Antiques Market is held on the first Sunday of the month. Head to their page for opening times and dates.

  1. Standard Quay is described as the hidden gem of Faversham, and we agree! The Quay used to be a commercial port, which is steeped in medieval and maritime history. Now it is home to boats, local businesses, restaurants and great local walks.
When you visit, be sure to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat at one of their bars and restaurants and enjoy a potter around their wide selection of antiques shops.

  1. Faversham is home to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s Oldest Brewer. Nestled in our medieval market town, brewing has continued on this site for centuries. Book yourself a brewery tour to see how it all works… and tastes!
  1. Huckleberry Woods is a small, rustic farm devoted to micro and miniature animals. Visitors get the chance to walk cute little pigs, sheep and donkeys! This is a great place to stop in with the family.

Book a table!

Once you have wrapped up the day’s activities, you’ll have worked up an appetite. There are plenty of local restaurants and places to grab a quick bite. We can’t possibly name them all, but here are our favourites.

Settle in for the night

If you need a place to stay, take a look online before your trip at the B&Bs  and hotels in the area. You can find a Premier Inn just behind Brogdale Farm on Tettenhall Way, or if you’re traveling with a large group and fancy doing it in style, check out the Customs House on bloomstays.com
