17th October sees the start of National Chocolate Week and a great opportunity to talk about the fabulous Kakawa Artisan Chocolate, based here at Brogdale Farm.

Kakawa makes all its products in its kitchens at Brogdale, using the best quality ingredients.  Their highly skilled team of artisan chocolate makers produce their wide range of innovative and exciting products. They specialise in chocolate that looks as good as it tastes, which colourful and creative chocolate bars, cakes, slabs and buttons.

Keeping it sustainable

Kakawa uses ingredients from around the world and uses cocoa sourced from responsible and sustainable origins.  They are committed to the well-being of the farmers who grow their ingredients.

They also use environmentally-friendly packaging which is either biodegradable or recyclable.

Kakawa’s products are handmade to order, which allows them to minimise the amount of food waste it creates, helping ensure it operates as sustainably as possible.

What does kakawa mean?

The word ‘kakawa’ originally comes from the South American Olmec civilisation and dates back to roughly 1000 BC – well before the Aztecs and Mayans. The Olmecs were the first civilisation to cultivate cocoa beans and called them Kakawa.
